A project called SC:R linux has recently been launched, aiming to bring StarCraft: Brood War to Linux. This is being made possible by using an open source library called WINE, which allows Windows applications to run on Linux platforms.
SC:R Linux initially started out in early 2018 as a private project, with the intention of getting the game to work on Linux.
The project has come a long way since its launch. They recently released their first public beta, which can be downloaded and installed from the official website.
